How MOTS-c Research Materials Are Tested
Peptide quality is assessed by separate tests for identity and purity.
Last reviewed and updated:
Is identity the same as purity?
No. Identity asks whether the molecule is the intended peptide; purity asks how much of the sample is that peptide versus related impurities. A material can be pure but the wrong peptide, or correct but impure.
What does HPLC tell researchers?
High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separates components of a sample and is commonly used to estimate purity as a percentage of the main peak. It does not by itself confirm identity.
What does mass spectrometry tell researchers?
Mass spectrometry (including LC-MS) measures molecular mass. For MOTS-c, the measured mass should match the mass calculated from its 16-residue sequence (about 2,174 Da), supporting identity.
Lot numbers and traceability
A lot or batch number links a vial to a specific analytical report. See the COA guide for how to read one.
