MOTS-c Human Research
MOTS-c has been studied in humans only to a limited extent.
Last reviewed and updated:
Endogenous MOTS-c measurements
Researchers have reported that circulating and muscle MOTS-c levels in humans change with exercise.[3] This describes the body's own peptide. It is observational and does not demonstrate effects of an externally supplied peptide.
Genetic association
A variant in the MOTS-c coding region was reported to be associated with longevity in a Japanese cohort.[4] Associations cannot establish cause.
Clinical trials
We have not verified any completed, peer-reviewed interventional trial to cite here. Check ClinicalTrials.gov for current registrations.
Limitations
Animal and cell results should not be read as human results. See the studies database and how we label evidence.
